Mosbach, 06.22.2021 – Platforms have long been on the road to success in the B2C environment and their importance is also growing in the B2B environment. Japanese and German experts have analyzed and evaluated which platforms fulfill the requirements of the manufacturing industry and how their business models work. Their outcome and evaluation have been summarized and published in the result paper of the Platform INDUSTRIE 4.0. The analysis also includes the Manufacturing Integration Platform (MIP) by MPDV as one of the key platforms from Germany.
"The MIP as basis for our ecosystem is known to numerous industrial companies, integrators, partners, software providers, automation companies, plant and machine builders, users and competitors," explains Steffen Münch, MIP Key Account Manager at MPDV and contributor to the result paper. The document focuses on value streams and revenue mechanisms. In short, it explains the MIP business model in detail. "Platform economy can only work if all interrelationships are transparent – from a technical and a business perspective," adds Münch.
Benefits for all
The result paper confirms that every participant in the MIP ecosystem can benefit: mApp suppliers provide specific solutions to the MIP, and integrators can choose from a wide range of available mApps. Users, mostly manufacturing companies, will then get the best overall solution tailored to their needs. In any case, development and integration costs are reduced with the MIP acting as an integrative interface. Everyone receives the perfect solution, which is optimized for their requirements.
